Parent-to-be petition and postcard campaign
October 2011
Please assist in the NASOG campaign to have the Federal Government restore the Extended Medicare Safety Net (EMSN) for Obstetrics to cover the average out-of-pocket costs for women who opt for a specialist to care for them during their pregnancy and the birth of their baby. You can assist by requesting the support of patients in signing the ''Parents-to-be'
petition (instructions
are also available), and encouraging them to complete a postcard
to the Prime Minister.
Please return petitions by 26 October (address details are in the instructions)
Postcards will be distributed to you practice shortly. Please collect as many postcards as possible until November 14. Envelopes and return address will be provided in the package distributed to you.
March Member Ultrasound Usage Survey Results
A recent survey of members' use of ultrasound found that the majority were not happy with the governments impost of red tape, and doubted that it will improve patient care, but agreed it would add to compliance costs. Members supported an increase in the rebate. The survey results will be used by NASOG & RANZCOG to lobby government.
AMA advice: Social Media and the Medical Professional
The AMA have issued an online professionalism guide to assist doctors and medical students using social media. Read their media release, watch their video, and download their guide.
Practitioner Survey
Recent cuts to the safety net have affected the profession. So that we can effectively reflect the impact to government, we need to know how it has affected practitioners. We have devised a survey, and background information for our members. You can take the survey here.
